Permits are secured and the pool is formed as to
your approved drawing or by your placement.
Usually,
your Cox pool will be dug the next day. Hitting ground water
(de-watering/well pointing) is not uncommon in our Gulf Coast area and
shouldn’t be cause for concern.
Steeltex
and steel (3/8 inch rebar) are installed. Inspection for this phase of the
construction is called into the city or county and it usually takes the
inspector a day or two to visit your home and make his inspection.

Next, shotcrete (Portland cement/ sand/water/pea gravel) is applied. The
shotcrete application takes one-half of a day and depending upon the
weather, this part of the construction of your pool is usually within
three to five days of excavation.
Your pool will be back filled next (putting dirt around the outside of the
shotcrete shell) and your electrician will ground the pool and call for an
inspection.

Your pool will be plumbed for spa jets (if ordered); pool/spa suction
lines (water coming from the pool/spa going to your filter system); return
lines (water that is being returned from the filter back to the pool);
bottom drains, skimmer and pool vacuum system. (Cox Pools automatically
plumbs for a pool cleaner, even if not ordered at the initial purchase,
which allows you to add one at a later date).

Next, your tile will be installed and form boards will be put in place in
preparation for pouring your deck. This is a time when many customers add
additional decking; however, you must request a “change order” from your
salesman or construction manager to ensure you will be billed for only the
exact amount of desired additional decking. This process is very important
as written changes always provide an audit trail for correct accounting.
Pouring
concrete for your pool deck requires good weather as we cannot pour in the
rain and the concrete must cure for several days prior to the first coat
of krete kote. This first coat is a base coat and not the final color.
Screen enclosure, if ordered, would come at this time and normally takes
two to three days depending upon the size of the area you want covered.
Your
pool shell is cleaned, dried and prepared for plastering (good weather is
an absolute must in this phase). Plastering your pool will take the
majority of one day. The last thing the plaster crew will do will be to
turn on your water and start the pool filling process. Your pool should be
filled with tap water (not water from a lawn sprinkler source) and
depending upon size and water pressure, will take 18 to 36 hours to fill.
Ladders, handrails, lights, etc., are installed followed by cleanup of
your pool area and final rough grading of the soil around your pool deck.
The electrician will
complete
the hook-up of lights, pumps and timers. Our service technician will bring
your pool to the proper levels regarding chlorine, pH and alkalinity. He
will also work with you to schedule a time for showing you how to test
your water and how to maintain your new Cox swimming pool. A folder will
be given to you with all of your equipment information, warranties and
instructions on your pool operation.
Again, we sincerely thank you for your business and wish you happy
swimming.
