Questions Every Buyer Should Ask Prior To Purchasing a Pool

 1.        How long have you been in business? How long has your staff been with you?

Ans:  Cox Pools has been in business since 1954 and the majority of our staff has been with us for over 30 years.

 2.       Are you a licensed and bonded contractor?  Do you have complaints filed with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and may I have your contractors’ license number to check your status?

Ans: Yes, we are licensed and bonded in the States of Florida (Lic #CPC 056661) and Mississippi (Lic # 17174-SC).

 3.       How large of a down payment are you expected to pay? Large down payments indicate financial instability and possible incompletion and extended construction period.

Ans: Ours is 20%.

 4.       To what professional organizations do you belong?  Have you won any awards for your pool designs?

Ans: We are members of the Florida Spa and Pool Association (FSPA); members of The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals
(APSP) and have a seat on the Board of Directors with both the United Pool and Spa Association (UPSA) and the National
Plasterers’ Council.  We have won Best of the Emerald Coast and Best of the Bay awards every year since the addition of that category in 2006.

 5.       How much and what types of insurance do you have in place?

Ans: We have a $1,000,000 liability damage insurance policy covering us while we are working on your pool and in your yard.

 6.       Please provide the names and number of your last three customers as references.

Ans: References are included in your customer sales package.

 7.       Why should I do business with you?

Ans: Our quality, service and warranties after the sale are unmatched.

 8.       Do you sub-contract any building phases?  What are the names of the people that will actually be building my pool, specifically the names of the subcontractors?  How long have you known and worked with these subs?

Ans:  We complete all pool building work with our in house crews.  No subcontractors; however, you might see Red Bay Construction Services on your site, as they are a wholly owned subsidiary of Cox Pools.

 9.       Who is responsible for any damage to my property?

Ans: Cox Pools is responsible for any of our actions, but please understand that your yard will be and look like a construction site.

 10.    How long will the project take to complete?

Ans: Approximately six to eight weeks for gunite pools and three weeks for fiberglass pools; however, these time frames are dependent upon weather.

 11.     Will a superintendent oversee the project?

Ans: Yes, you will have a dedicated superintendent that will monitor progress throughout the entire construction phase of your pool.

 12.    Do you provide service after completions?

Ans:  Yes, and for your convenience you can log on to our website for all your service requests.

 13.    After construction begins with whom will we be working?

Ans:  You will continue to work with your sales representative throughout the entire pool construction process.  He or she will provide their telephone number along with other Cox Pool department managers’ numbers.
